Paula Lindley is a multidisciplinary Australian artist working primarily in painting. Her formal training in drawing at Prahran College of Advanced Education laid the foundation for her keen observational skills, and measured approach to composition which remain evident throughout her work.
Lindley’s artistic practice is deeply informed by her distinguished career as an Educator at the National Gallery of Victoria, where she developed an intimate understanding of Australian landscape painting traditions and the profound contributions of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander artists, whose deep connection to country has shaped Australian artistic heritage.
Working from her studio at Le Studio Artspace, Mordialloc, where she established her practice upon transitioning to retirement, Lindley creates works that explore the complex layers of history embedded within the Australian landscape, capturing transient moments with expressive brushstrokes and a vibrant palette. Her work challenges viewers to look beyond surface beauty to consider the deeper historical narratives that shape our understanding of place.
