Andreea-Monica Sfârlea is a multidisciplinary artist exploring the psychological and emotional landscapes of human experience. Working under the artistic identity Monamure Art, her practice is deeply introspective, weaving personal history, collective memory, and societal trauma into layered, evocative works.
Trained in visual arts in her birthplace, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Andreea returned to her creative practice after a 25-year hiatus, using art as a form of healing and self- reclamation.
Her work is characterized by fluid compositions, intricate layering, and a symbolic interplay between abstraction and representation. Through her pieces, she examines themes of resilience, control, and transformation, often incorporating natural elements to reflect the intersection between internal struggles and external realities.
Her recent solo exhibition, Colorama (Patterson Lakes Library, 2024), explored the emotional impact of color and light, while her current body of work developed during the Magnify Artist in Residence Program at Kingston Arts delves further into the emotional spectrum through the metaphor of inner radiance and veils.
Andreea’s work has also been exhibited at Oak Hill Gallery, Le Studio Art Space, and virtually through Monamure Art, with previous showcases in European galleries before relocating to Australia.
Beyond her visual practice, Andreea is passionate about psychology, collective trauma, and the intersection of mental health and creative expression. She continues to explore how art can serve as a bridge between personal introspection and broader social narratives, offering viewers a space for reflection, connection, and emotional resonance.
